George Romero tribute: Night of the Living Dead

Saturday, July 22 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets $5.

In memory of director George Romero, who died this past weekend, the Redford presents a rare 35mm film print of Night of the Living Dead, the 1968 horror movie that inspired generations of filmmakers. Filmed in Pittsburgh on a shoestring budget, Romero rewrote many of the horror genre rules, casting black actor Duane Jones as the hero, securing an abandoned farmhouse against a zombie invasion.

A 1968 American independent horror film, directed by George A. Romero, starring Duane Jones and Judith O'Dea.
