Classic Cartoon Festival—Out of the Inkwell
Saturday, November 18 at 8:00 PM Tickets: $7, $5 (Senior and Kids)
Ann Arbor-based animation expert Steve Stanchfield returns to host his annual collection of rare and familiar cartoon gems.
OUT OF THE INKWELL is a tribute to the Fleischer Studios that gave us Popeye, Betty Boop, Bimbo and Koko, plus a series of still-astonishing Superman cartoons. It will be co-hosted by Jane Fleischer, granddaughter of Max. Cartoons from the 1920s to 1950s will be shown, including work from Max’s time at the Jam Handy studios in Detroit. The show also has two silent cartoons with live organ accompaniment by John Lauter.
This wide variety of cartoons is a perfect way to kick off Thanksgiving week and the holiday season.
